What is the Consumer Confidence Survey®?

The monthly Consumer Confidence Survey®, based on an online sample, is conducted for The Conference Board by Toluna, a technology company that delivers real-time consumer insights and market research through its innovative technology, expertise, and panel of over 36 million consumers. The cutoff date for the preliminary results was June 19.

Why did the Consumer Confidence Index ® increase in December?

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index ® increased in December following back-to-back monthly declines. The Index now stands at 108.3 (1985=100), up sharply from 101.4 in November. The Present Situation Index —based on consumers’ assessment of current business and labor market conditions—increased to 147.2 from 138.3 last month.
